Pontikonisi
When Odysseus was on his way back to his homeland, Ithaca, it is said that he made a last stop on Corfu Island.
Mythological legend has it that Corfu Pontikonisi was created during a storm. Poseidon the God of the Sea, transformed his ship into an emerald green rock, a true jewel of the Chalikiopoulos lagoon, in front of Corfu town. This rock is the legendary Pontikonisi, a small island, with huge history. The only building on Pontikonisi is a monastery with a church dedicated to the “Transformation of the Savior”, nevertheless the beauty of the monastery and the astonishing view, will give you images that you will hold for a lifetime.
